A Humanitarian 501c(3) Nonprofit
Advocating the Positive Benefits of Art
The Hop of Georgia, Inc. is a humanitarian art and education 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Artistic stimulation and educational concepts weigh our mission to advocate the positive benefits of art. We hope our instructional and artistic approach to life happiness and well-being can help individuals with stress reduction, enhanced performance, critical thinking, and visual and oral communication. As artists and educators bound to human services, we at The Hop of Georgia are steadfast in the support of doodling as a catalyst for positive emotions.
The Benefits of Art
Make Your World a Better Place. Scribble.
In the past, doodling was seen as little worth or value. It was perceived as something that diminished potential academic achievement. But today current research is giving doodling a raving new image as something beneficial to learning and memory attention. When it comes to memory and learning, “doodling fosters creativity, enables concentration, facilitates self-discovery, and helps with memory retention.”
- Sundararaman et. al (2020) investigated the impact of structured and unstructured doodling on auditory recall relational to students in class room settings. Findings showed that the structured doodling variable out performed other variables. Findings also suggest that longer periods of doodling nurtured more spontaneous naturalistic doodling, allowing greater attention to the main auditory task (lecture). Study Take away: doodling decreased the occurrence of daydreaming and/or mind-wandering, enabling greater attention to the auditory task (lecture).
